Dr. Sean Hu

Dr. Sean Hu received his Ph. D in 1988 from the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

After spending thirteen years in that country, he moved to Canada to do research at the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department of the University of British Columbia.

In 2001 Dr. Sean Hu knew that Dr. Yang Bo, in China, had finally brought the scientific research on stem cells into practical use for clinical applications. He had been the first to do that.

He came back to China and set up two companies, both based in Shenzhen: a hospital management consulting company called Medika Medical Management and a medical equipment distribution company called Shenzhen Scienceway. This allowed him to raise the funds needed to sustain Dr. Yang Bo's researches and clinical treatments.

While waiting for the technology to mature, in four years Sean Hu visited all the chinese groups and research centres involved in the stem cells field, organizing a true network between them.

Finally, in 2005, Dr. Hu felt that the treatments were proven enough and that time had finally come to set up a leading venture, and Beike Biotechnology Ltd was founded as a collaboration of the best and brightest stem cell scientists and groups in China.
